Joe Hamilton
Now on the Board of Directors for Joshua International, Joe Hamilton previously served as Associate Director of United Methodist Volunteers In Mission, SEJ, from 1995-2006. Additionally, he has personally led several teams from his home church and others to work on churches victimized by arson and disaster response in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, North and South Carolina and New York.
In addition to his domestic work Joe has been involved in the mission field internationally, leading or as a participant in volunteer teams to such diverse locations as Cuba, Estonia, and Sierra Leone, as well as throughout Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Joe is a graduate of Jacksonville State University (AL), the University of Alabama, and the University of West Georgia. Prior to his work with the United Methodist Church, he served in the 214th Army Band in Anchorage, Alaska and directed high school bands in Alabama and Georgia for nineteen years.
He is now semi-retired and works with his local church and local History Museum. He is married to Karen Shepard-Hamilton. They have three children and five grandchildren. They attend New Covenant United Methodist Church in Douglasville, Georgia.
